From Clinical Clutter to Market Authority: The Northfield Clinic Transformation.

How an Instructional Design-led approach generated 1,700+ monthly organic views with $0 in ad spend.

The Challenge

The Problem:

Northfield Clinic is a cornerstone of the Texarkana healthcare community, but its digital presence was struggling to keep up with its growth. They faced a common "medical industry" hurdle: Information Overload. With a vast list of conditions and services, the previous site was difficult for patients to navigate, resulting in high bounce rates and missed opportunities for patient engagement.

The Objectives:

  • Streamline a high-density clinical database.

  • Establish a "Safe Harbor" visual brand that builds immediate patient trust.

  • Ensure full digital accessibility (WCAG) for a diverse patient demographic.

The Strategy

Applying Instructional Design to UX

Instead of just "reskinning" the site, I applied my Master of Education (M.Ed.) background to the user experience.

  • Cognitive Load Reduction: I reorganized 50+ service categories into a "findability" framework. By categorizing complex data into intuitive buckets, we reduced the mental effort required for a patient to find help.

  • The Scroll-less Philosophy: I implemented high-impact, low-scroll landing pages. This keeps critical information (Book an Appointment / Call Now) above the fold, increasing conversion intent.

  • Accessibility as a Standard: As a WCAG-certified designer, I audited and rebuilt the site’s foundation to ensure every patient—regardless of ability—can navigate the clinic's digital home.

The Results

Local Market Dominance

The results of this strategic overhaul were immediate and measurable.

  • Organic Growth: Without a single dollar spent on paid marketing or Google Ads, the site now attracts over 1,700 visitors every month.

  • Market Share: In a city of ~30,000, this represents a significant recurring reach, positioning Northfield as the primary digital medical authority in the region.

  • A "Frictionless" Patient Journey: Patients can now navigate from "Symptom Search" to "Appointment Request" in seconds.

Why work with a designer who has an M.Ed.?

Most designers build for aesthetics. I build for information retention and action. By understanding how the human brain processes information, I create digital systems that don't just look professional—they lead your audience exactly where they need to go.
